ABOUT US
Save Our Strays Fort Bend was recently formed by two citizens who are very concerned about the stray and homeless animal population in Fort Bend County. In 2008, 3,613 animals were picked up by Fort Bend County Animal Control (FBCAC) and 3,204 were euthanized because the owner either didn't come forward to claim them during the mandatory 3-day hold period or the animals were turned in by their owners and were automatically euthanized without the chance of being adopted into a new family. You can do the math - only about 400 of these animals left the shelter alive. The sad fact is that vast majority of these animals were healthy pets that just got out of a yard, but had no microchip or identification tag. Save Our Strays Fort Bend desperately wants to change these statistics for the positive, but we need your help. We need citizens willing to donate their time, money, compassion and love to help these animals get a second chance. Please consider adopting a companion pet from FBCAC (or any of the other surrounding shelters) or fostering a homeless animal until a new, suitable home can be found. You can do this either through our rescue group or directly with FBCAC. Also, FBCAC is in desperate need of additional taxpayer funds for veterinarian services and a new state of the art adoption facility. Please contact your County Commissioner and request that the county budget be increased to accommodate these needs. We have listed their contact information on our "Government Links" page. Save Our Strays Fort Bend sincerely hopes that you will consider helping in any way that you can. Stray and homeless animals are a continuing, community problem and it will take a community effort to solve it. But we are confident that it can be done with your help!
